Deepa Khanna Sobti is a Singaporean artist of Indian origin, who is renowned for her abstract expressionist works that are accompanied by original poems.
Longing for a reason to explore the deeper meaning of life, Deepa Khanna Sobti left her career in banking in order to pursue her art and poetry.
Deepa's philosophy is to push the viewers to realize the extent of personal conditioning that limits their actual undivided experience, and finally to be able to see beyond all thought-based conceptualization.
Deepa draws on abstractions found in nature as inspiration for her oil paintings. She employs the technique of only using a palette knife, avoiding brushes or pencils as these often move through learned muscle memory. The use of a palette knife encourages spontaneity; without becoming predictable or formulaic, she strives for balance in her works. Her oil paintings are characterised by their use of bold colours and unique.
Deepa has achieved international success, with multiple solo and group exhibitions across the world, notably at the Vatican, Spectrum Miami, the London Art Biennale and the Chianciano Biennale Italy. She won the Royal Arts Prize in 2016 and her work has been published by the Saatchi Museum magazine and in her own book, released by the International Confederation of Art Critics. Her work is held in private collections across the world, such as in Hong Kong, the US, the UK and Dubai.
According to Karen Lappon of the International Confederation of Art Critics - "Deepa Khanna Sobti is a prodigiously talented abstract expressionist artist who will have a deep impact on the contemporary art scene of today and tomorrow."
Deepa donates 75% profits from the sale of her work to 6 charities that she is closely associated with.
